Support the Mentes Family after House Fire

Fairfield, CT

Story

If you know the Mentes family, you know they are the first to help anyone in need. Mike, a Firefighter, and Jess, a Nursing Student have dedicated their lives to the service of others. In their free time they can often be found helping out friends and neighbors in any and every way possible. They have 3 young daughters, Morgan(16), Ireland(14), and Reagan(11) with hearts of gold. Their oldest daughter Morgan, volunteers at a horse barn caring for the horses, babysitting and walking the neighborhood dogs. Their youngest daughters Ireland and Raegan are excellent students and are very active in sports. One of the girls favorite past times is training their dog Kevin. However, just days after Christmas in the early morning of December 28th, life changed drastically for this beautiful family when their house caught fire. Mike was at work at the Fire House taking care of the community as he has for years. However, Jess was home for the blaze and forced to jump out the window to escape the flames, and watch the home they built burn down. Before fleeing, Jess bravely managed to save the family dog and cat by carry them out the window with her. Then she and Mike had to tell their girls (who were at a sleepover) that they had no home to return to, and nothing left. This is a family that would give you the shirts off their backs. Now having lost their home and all their belongs, that’s all they have. Their house has been condemned, and they lost everything they own from wedding albums to Christmas gifts for the girls. We can’t give them back what they have lost, but let’s help them make new memories and give them a fresh start by providing meals and donations for clothing, food, housing and all the other things this amazing family needs to start life over from scratch.

I was saddened to hear of the house fire on Alma Drive in Fairfield--though I don't know the family, my late father and his brothers built the homes on the street and named it for my mother--Alma Fazekas--I will be happy to contribute to the family.--Ron Fazekas

Sorry to hear about such a tragic loss 😞. As a mother myself I can understand how devastating this situation is for you and your family. In any way that I could help, let me know. I have a king size headboard and frame, 2 twin size bed mattress sets, one set is brand new and the other set is fairly new. I also have a good condition small futon that you could lay down and use as a bed. You are welcome to all these items. Would be great for the girls. I also have some brand new clothes that my daughter never wore, please send me their size so I can see what I can help you with. Thank you
