We’re organizing support for our dear friend Jesse Hendrix, who was in a very simple accident, a falling off of a four foot gate, on Saturday, January 31, resulting in a complex, compound break to his lower leg. Jesse will require 3 surgeries and is facing a long recovery process. During this time his partner Nellie alongside Jesse's parents, will be stepping into the role of primary caregivers—supporting his healing while also managing the day-to-day needs of their household. This is a big transition, and having practical support will make a meaningful difference in their lives and the lives of the many that Jesse has an impact on. He is a school teacher at Kapaʻa Elementary school on the east side of Kauaʻi and is incredibly grateful and blessed to be a part of this community. He will greatly miss the students and teachers on campus and wants to get back to the classroom as soon as possible. Offering meals, help around the house, offering donations/purchases off the wishlist for healing devices not covered by insurance, or simply showing up with attention and time and keeping him company would be incredibly beneficial to help carry them through this challenging chapter.
