Support for Baby June and Family

Washington, DC

W
Story

Dear family, friends, neighbors and our beloved school community, Thank you to each and every one of you who has reached out and asked to know what we need in this coming season of life as we get ready to welcome sweet baby June to our family. We chose GiveInKind because it seems to be the most comprehensive option for communicating meal needs, care needs, etc - all in one place. We will also have a Caringbridge that we post on in order to keep everyone updated on June's health as we navigate these next few years. The more personal details of June's story will be shared there because we have better control over the privacy settings. Our needs in the immediate days following June's arrival will be fewer and very particular as we will be in the NICU for an undetermined amount of time. We will update and change the calendar as we adjust to our new normal.

Special Notes

For those considering making us a meal, thank you so much! Mary is gluten free, and one of our children is vegetarian by medical necessity. That being said, gluten does not have to be avoided for everyone, and Mary is used to eating the parts of the meal that do not include gluten. The meals also do not need to be vegetarian. As a family we are not vegetarian and are used to providing an alternative for our little one that cannot have animal protein (dairy and eggs are not an issue). For those considering giving rides or having our children over to play, what a gift! One thing that we will have to be very careful about is exposure. Due to her medical condition, June will have a severely suppressed immune system, and she will be born in the midst of flu season. So if there is any illness in your family, please reach out to us! We know that we will need to be very flexible in this season as we cannot risk illness for June. Any fever at all is an ER trip and likely a hospital admission for June. We will never be upset if you need to cancel helping us due to illness.
