Supporting Eric and Ashley Life can change in an instant. For Eric, that moment came this summer when what seemed like “just another migraine” turned into something far more serious. After years of on-and-off symptoms, doctors discovered a brain tumor—a glioma deep in the insula part of his brain. In August, Eric and his wife, Ashley, traveled to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, where they spent nearly a month navigating tests, appointments, and ultimately, brain surgery. The surgery was successful, but it’s just the beginning of their fight. Soon, Eric will be fitted for his radiation mask and begin chemo and radiation treatments. Through all of this, Eric has shown incredible courage and humor—even joking about blaming grammar mistakes on the brain tumor. Ashley has been his rock, supporting him every step of the way. But as anyone who’s faced a health crisis knows, it takes a village. That’s where we come in. Both Eric and Ashley work in education. While they are blessed with good health insurance, the costs of travel, time away from work, and the daily demands of treatment are real and heavy. More than that, the emotional and physical toll of fighting cancer makes everyday things—like preparing dinner—so much harder. This Meal Train is one way we, as their community, can wrap them in support. By signing up to provide a meal (or sending a gift card), you’re giving them one less thing to worry about as they adjust to their “new normal” and focus on what matters most: healing, family, and fighting this tumor with everything they’ve got. If you’re unable to provide a meal, please consider keeping them in your prayers, sending positive vibes, or simply reaching out with words of encouragement. Every gesture matters. Together, we can make sure Eric, Ashley, and their family never feel like they’re fighting this battle alone.
Please note that Eric is eating clean at this time. Lean meats, vegetables and fruit. Ashley as a gluten allergy and is vegetarian.
