Support the Hall Family

It is with a heavy heart, but a spirit full of hope, that we share some difficult news regarding our sweet two-year-old daughter, Delilah. Recently, our world was turned upside down when Delilah was diagnosed with high-risk metastatic neuroblastoma (a rare pediatric cancer). What started as complaints of back pain—which we initially feared was a UTI that had spread to her kidneys—led us to an ultrasound that revealed a tumor on her kidney/adrenal gland. The shock was absolute. For the first few nights after the news, I kept waking up, desperately hoping it was all just a terrible dream. Back in May, doctors successfully removed the tumor, and at that moment, we were led to believe the cancer had not spread. However, my mother’s intuition told me something still wasn't right. We sought a second opinion, and the subsequent scans confirmed our fears: the cancer had indeed spread to her bones and lymph nodes. Mama bears, trust your gut. Historically, the prognosis for high-risk neuroblastoma in children over 18 months old has been daunting, with survival rates around 50%. However, we are holding onto hope, as recent medical advancements and studies over the last few years are showing real promise. Delilah has a very long road ahead of her—approximately 15 to 18 months of intensive treatment. Her journey has/will include: -Chemotherapy -Radiation -Stem cell transplant -Immunotherapy -Countless scans, blood draws, and injections -Surgeries While recovery is not guaranteed, Delilah is a fighter. She has already crushed her first round of chemotherapy and is currently back home resting and recharging before we head back for round two. To be by her side (and with Teddy) every step of the way, I will be taking a lengthy leave of absence from work. We want to soak up every possible second with her while she undergoes this marathon of healing. We are so incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love and support we’ve already received from our friends, family, and coworkers.
