Please Help Jacob gain independence.

Hi, my name is Jacob. I honestly hate asking for help, especially because I know so many people are struggling right now, but I’ve gotten to the point where I really need it. I have EDS, ME/CFS, MCAS, and POTS, and I rely on disability income. Unfortunately, what I receive isn’t enough to cover everything I need, especially medical expenses and transportation. The biggest issue right now is my wheelchair van. It has broken down again, and without it I can’t get to my doctors or appointments, even on days when I’m well enough to leave the house. The van has already had wiring repairs, but the problem still isn’t fixed. Now it needs another battery, which would be the third one. I’m looking at about $500 for towing and more diagnostics, with no guarantee that will fully solve the problem. At this point, I’m also looking at replacing the van. I found a used wheelchair-accessible van for around $13,000, and I would need about $1,000 for the down payment. Accessible vehicles are unbelievably expensive, so buying a newer one outright just isn’t realistic for me. I also spend around $550 a month on medical treatments and supplies that insurance doesn’t cover, including vitamins, supplements, and PRP treatments. I’m lucky enough to rent a room from a friend where utilities are included, which helps a lot. But after rent, my phone bill, and medical costs, I usually have about $40 left for the month. So really, any amount helps. The money raised would go toward getting my current van diagnosed and repaired, helping me get a more reliable wheelchair van, and covering medical treatments insurance won’t pay for. I really wish I didn’t have to ask. I wish there were better systems in place for disabled people so transportation and medical treatment weren’t such a constant financial struggle.
