If you know Mr. Wiggs, you know he is a devoted husband, a loving father, and the rock of his family. Today, he is facing the biggest battle of his life, and we are stepping out in faith to ask for your support. The journey began last January when Mr. Wiggs underwent major surgery to receive an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) to treat severe left heart failure. It was a massive undertaking, requiring a grueling four-month hospital stay. He fought his way back home to his family, but the road has remained incredibly steep. Recently, a sudden setback brought them right back to the hospital. Mr. Wiggs experienced a severe backup of blood into his lungs due to complications with the device. During the necessary washout procedure to clear his lungs, his body faced immense strain, triggering acute kidney failure along with a cascade of other severe medical obstacles. He is currently on week 8 of this current hospital admission, and he has already endured 7 surgeries during this stay alone. Every day brings a new hurdle, but Mr. Wiggs continues to fight with everything he has. While he fights in the hospital, daily life must continue at home for their family, which includes two adults and two children. Balancing the emotional weight of a critical ICU stay with the routine needs of his kids is an overwhelming challenge. Between traveling back and forth to the hospital, managing meals, keeping up with household essentials, and keeping life as stable as possible for their children, the daily resources are stretched to their absolute limit.
