Hi friends! My names Daniel Trout, and I have open heart surgery this week, Monday, June 30th. And will be in the hospital until probably July 7th. I will be in a space of recovery for the next couple months, and I have had many, many friends reach out with a desire to support me, or show up for me in some capacity. Your love is felt and seriously so appreciated. I am fortunate enough to come from a large family with endless layers of support, so I am not making this with the "need" of support, but rather with the openness to just receive love and support from the friends that feel called. I've settled into the space I will be living in for the foreseeable future this week and I feel so confident in these next steps. My Mother, Father and 98 year old Grandmother came out from Missouri this week to stay for the next handful of weeks to help with my recovery. And I am so dang grateful for the support I receive from my partner Jackie through all this. Mainly, the 5 of us will be around for the next 8 weeks. If you are local to Denver, you are ALWAYS welcome at our door. Come share a meal with us, get down on some board games, or just share space and laugh. The Surgery - My aortic root is dilated, and I will be having an open-heart surgery to repair it. It is called "The David" - lol - the David procedure is a procedure to repair the root and valve. The dilation means that my root is stretched out a bit and I am at the risk of having an aneurysm. The David, is going to repair this, and we will keep my original valve if use if it is possible, but will replace it with a mechanical one if needed. I will be stuck "in the box" for the next 4-8 weeks which means a minimal movement of my arms and upper torso. But look forward to getting back to my normal movement by the end of a few months. It's crazy to be facing this, but I am prepared and ready to get it behind me. Thank you so much to everyone who has visited this page. The support I have for this is strong, and I am grateful to be in a space where I am not NEEDING to ask for anything. But so gosh dang grateful for everyone who wants to show up. I will be in a vulnerable place for the first few weeks, so please please, please be mindful and real about how YOU feel. As much as I want you here physically, if you are feeling under the weather, please communicate this clearly and support me from afar. I know none of you would bring a cold intentionally, I just needed to make sure it was said.
