My name is Liv, I am genderqueer. I live in Alaska and am getting top surgery! Unfortunately where I live doesn’t have the best options for gender affirming care or surgery, so I have found a surgeon I’m excited about in Portland Oregon. While I have family and friends in Portland, I will need full time care post surgery and will be bringing someone along with me. My consultation is September 22nd and after that I’ll know more about when my surgery is. I am hoping for a mid December date, to help minimize how much time off work I will need to take. I am anticipating my out of pocket financial responsibility to be around $5-7,000 (even after partial insurance coverage). As well as $3-5,000 in costs related to travel for me and a caretaker, hotel/airbnb stay, and medical supplies for recovery. I know times are tough all around, and I am so deeply grateful for any and all support! I am so grateful for the support and encouragement to access the care I need and being my true self!
