August 2026: Reversal surgery is rapidly approaching!🙏. At this time, gift cards and items from Kat’s Amazon wish list (see link to the right) would be greatly appreciated. These cards will provide her family with meals and other items needed while she is recovering in the hospital and after she returns home. March 2026: Please help show your support for Kat Smith and her family by making a meal or donating a gift card for a meal that her family can use during her recovery time. Per Kat, there are no food allergies and any meals/gift cards for meals are greatly appreciated. She will likely be in the hospital at least one week after her surgery on 3/24/2026 and upon her return to home she will only be allowed to eat liquid/soft foods. Her recovery will be lengthy thus her parents will be staying with and caring for her and her son, Dante. She expresses extreme gratitude for anyone willing to donate a meal or gift card during this difficult time.
The gift cards will be for Kat’s family as she will have dietary restrictions after her surgery (see update below). Kat has also created an Amazon Wish List for items she will need to assist with her recovery. An excerpt from Kat’s FB page: “I will have a limited diet starting with very soft foods, soups, lots of protein smoothies, peanut butter, yogurt, eggs, potatoes, etc. Just like trial and error with my ostomy, I’ll have the same with my J pouch; learning what foods exit fast and /or cause me problems. Just like now, dehydration is common so making sure I drink 80-100 oz of fluids and electrolytes daily are essential.”
