Hannah was diagnosed with aortic valve regurgitation in April of 2021. She has had yearly checkups and up until this January, things were going well. In January after her yearly testing, it was determined that her aortic valve was still not functioning properly, and it was now time for surgery. After meeting with different surgeons and getting 2nd opinions, she decided to go the route that would be best for her and her family. Dr. Hermsen will be doing the Ross procedure. The Ross procedure is a specialize procedure that replaces a diseased aortic valid with patient's own pulmonary vale. They pulmonary valve is then replaced with a donor valve, typically a homograft (human tissue) This procedure will take place on June 19th at UW Madison, WI. The surgery is expected to take 8-10 hours. She will then be in ICU for 2-3 days and then on regular cardiac floor for another 5-7 days. Hannah is a single mom with two daughters, McKenzie and Isabelle. She will be off work tentatively until September recovering. Hannah normally works 2-3 jobs to be able to support her family. I will be giving updates as I have them. . Hannah has been through so much in her life and this is just another chapter in her book, that has not yet ended.
