Supporting Katherine Rivera’s Cancer Journey with a Meal Train

W
Story

Our dear Katherine was diagnosed last month with two early-stage cancers: DCIS (a very early, contained form of breast cancer) and papillary thyroid cancer. Both cancers were caught early and are considered highly treatable, but she will require at least two surgeries with considerable downtimes as part of her treatment plan. After weeks of biopsies, scans, and some really hard decisions, she’s decided to have a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction on August 6. It’s a big surgery, but it also means she’ll likely avoid chemo, radiation, and early menopause — so it’s the right call for her long-term health and quality of life. About four weeks after that, she’ll probably need a second, smaller surgery to remove her thyroid. She’s been carrying so much these past weeks — on top of still grieving her dad, which makes all of this even harder. I’ve watched her handle it with so much strength, but now it’s our turn to show up for her. Here’s how you can help: • Sign up for a meal — I’ll post drop-off details and any dietary notes on the calendar. • Send a gift card for food delivery (DoorDash is best) if that’s easier for you. • Leave her a note — well wishes, love, and encouragement mean the world right now. Scroll down to leave a message for her!
