Story

We are reaching out because Aunt Alice ("Ali") needs our family's help now more than ever. At 92 years old, this has been an incredibly difficult year for her. She has experienced a revolving door of illnesses, hospitalizations, rehabilitation stays, and, most recently a fall that resulted in a partial hip replacement. While she is making progress, she has reached the point where the rehab facility has determined she is no longer improving enough to remain there and will be discharged this week. The reality is that Ali now needs assistance with nearly every aspect of daily living. Lisa and I have been helping oversee her care over the past couple of years, but we have reached a point where her needs are beyond what the two of us, and a few other family members, can provide on our own. Following her discharge, Ali will be staying with Maureen while she continues to recover. We are asking our family and friends to help lighten the load, however you are able. One of the biggest immediate needs is meals. We've created this Meal Train so Ali can have lunches and dinners without worrying about cooking, which she is no longer able to do safely. If you live nearby, signing up to prepare or deliver a meal would be incredibly appreciated. If you don't live locally but would still like to help, you can contribute a gift card through this site. We'll use those to order meals from local restaurants or purchase prepared foods that make daily care much easier. Other ways you can help include: Driving her to and from doctor's appointments. Visiting with her for a little while. Giving her a phone call to brighten her day. Even small acts of kindness make a tremendous difference. Ali has always been there for her family, and now she needs us. This stage of her life has been especially challenging, and because of the current situation surrounding the Marquis Family Trust, she is in a difficult position while we work toward a more permanent solution. We truly can't do this alone. If everyone can help in whatever way they're able, whether it's providing some meals, or a gift card, it will make an enormous difference in Ali's comfort, well-being, and recovery. Thank you for your love & support!

Special Notes

In addition to purchasing gift cards through this site, you are welcome to purchase gift cards directly from local establishments of food that Ali enjoys (she loves any restaurants, really). If you prefer that option, you can order them through the restaurant's website and email the electronic gift card to me ([email protected]). Since Ali will be moving around some while she recovers, I'll make sure she receives them and that they're used to provide meals when needed.
