On June 13, our family became victims of a heartbreaking scam that stole nearly ten years of my mother’s hard-earned savings. The scammers impersonated bank representatives and convinced us that her account was in danger. Out of fear and trust, we followed their instructions, believing we were protecting her money. Instead, the funds were taken by criminals, and years of savings disappeared in just a few hours. My family came to the United States from Eritrea and Ethiopia in 2014 seeking a better future. My parents have worked tirelessly to provide for our family and save for emergencies, education, and everyday expenses. Losing these savings has placed a tremendous financial burden on us. I am the oldest son, and I recently graduated with plans to continue my education. My younger brother will be entering 11th grade this fall. We are now facing the difficult challenge of rebuilding after this loss. We are asking for support to help replace some of the stolen savings, cover essential household expenses, and give our family a chance to recover.
