Postpartum support for the Anderson/Hoch-Stall Family

Oak Park, IL

Story

Gina and Josh are about to step into their new roles as parents! Let's surround them with love and support to keep them well-nourished during this precious and challenging time. Note that if you are dropping off a meal during the first few weeks, the emphasis is support for Gina and Josh, not meeting the little one. It's hard to predict availability when you're getting little sleep and tending a newborn! I know, we're all dying to meet the baby, and that will happen in due time. Below is a timeline with their best guess of the types of support they'd like. This page will be updated as needs and requests change. Please sign up on the calendar below to keep things flowing smoothly. First 7-10 days home from hospital: - requesting: 1-2 meal deliveries a day -note: Gina and Josh will be prioritizing rest, feeding and bonding with baby, and will therefore not be available for much social time - if you drop a meal off during this time, please leave it at the back door and text Gina or Josh. Weeks 2&3: -requesting: 1-2 meal deliveries a day, task support, short (15 min) hangs -come in, do a task, and hang for 15 minutes -potential tasks include: washing dishes, starting/changing a load of laundry, running an errand, taking Scooter for a walk Weeks 4&5: -requesting: 1-2 meal deliveries a day, task support, potential for meeting the baby and longer hangs, depending on energy levels -keep getting stuff done! All of the above is an estimated guideline that we've laid out to help manage expectations. Of course, if Gina and Josh are feeling more open to social time they will let you know. Either way, know that they are deeply grateful for any support you can provide. Feel free to buddy up and come with a friend, especially if you're coming from farther away. Gina and Josh will have a dry erase board with a task list and grocery/supplies list. If you'd like to pick something up on your way, text Kellyn @847-624-5298 and she can let you know what they're in need of. Meal notes: Gina will be needing lots of nourishment to fuel breastfeeding and physical recovery. Please prioritize protein (meat specifically) in your meals. Feel free to make homemade meals or have takeout delivered, but please make choices for them rather than asking them to choose. Gina and Josh have no dietary restrictions. See a list of their favorite cuisines in the meal requests on the calendar.

Special Notes

Please do not ring the doorbell. Instead, please go through the back gate and enter/exit the back door. If providing food in your own food storage containers, please label them and/or include a note about whether you'd like them back. Bulk deliveries are welcome, but please note in the "what are you bringing" section "BULK" and how many you'll be bringing. Gina and Josh have limited freezer space so we want to limit that to 1 every week or 2. Gina and Josh will be limiting phone usage around baby, so they may be slow to respond. Feel free to reach out to Kellyn at 847-624-5298 with any questions!
