Hi Friends, Family and Supporters of the Rakich Family, As many of you know Mylan Rakich unexpectedly passed on Tuesday, August 5th at Legacy Emmanuel Hospital. Ariane, Ben (12) and Jefferson (8) are deeply mourning the loss and regrouping as a family. On Thursday, August 7th an Honor Walk was held in honor of Mylan being an organ donor. A small group of family and friends was there for a sad and beautiful day celebrating his amazing gift. An art exhibit (of Mylan's work) and memorial are being planned for a later time (TBD) as the family takes time to grieve this huge loss. Mylan was Clackamas Community College faculty and taught in the Welding Department from 2007 to 2013. Mylan and Ariane met during the 2010 in-service at a workshop hosted by the CCC Welding Department. Mylan helped Ariane weld a shepherd’s hook and their friendship began. They were married Aug. 20, 2011. Mylan was also a sculptor. His work was included in several sculpture expositions on the Oregon City CCC campus, PCC Cascade and Rock Creek campuses and in private collections all along the West Coast. Mylan was also art faculty at Portland Community College and the University of Portland, focusing on drawing and sculpture. Ariane, Ben and Jefferson are so grateful for the support of family and friends.
