Britney Amato's Fight against Cancer

Scottsdale, AZ

Story

UPDATE: A lot has happened recently on my cancer journey; I wanted to provide you with a quick update of a very long story. I refused to accept that I would not get a definitive diagnosis after 5 different pathology labs/hospitals/experts could not come to a conclusion. Their best guess was triple negative breast cancer. This never sat right with me, but I was pressured to begin chemo & immunotherapy so that’s what I did. I then had my biopsies sent to MD Anderson in Houston. After a few weeks they got back to me & said “we strongly believe this is stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma.” I was first diagnosed with stage 1 Melanoma in 2023, it had less that a 2% chance to come back, but it did. The good news is it had not spread to my brain & new images found that the previous 3 rounds of immunotherapy have shrunk my tumors so much that they now believe it’s early stage 3 & most importantly, I get to stop chemo!! The next step is going back to Houston for a very invasive and long surgery to remove the tumor from my chest wall & they will remove all of the lymph nodes/tumors from under my arm. I will also have vein bypass surgery to hopefully help prevent lymphedema. If the margins are clear, I will continue on immunotherapy for 1 year & then I will be able to put all this shit behind me 😊Thank you so much for all of your support during the most difficult thing my family & I have ever been through. I am eternally grateful to have such wonderful people in my life & I have never felt so loved 💛 Hi Family & Friends, As most of you know by now, I was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare, agressive and fast spreading cancer that started in my breast and has metastisized to several of my lymph nodes. After months of testing and many experts spanning several states, they are still unable to give me a clear and definitive diagnosis so we have to go on their best guess which is Stage 3B Metaplastic Triple Negative Breast Cancer. This type of cancer is harder to treat as it is more resistant to chemo/radiation and makes up less than 1% of all breast cancers. I have already started on Immunotherapy and will be starting Chemotherapy on 8/27. I have no immediate family history nor do I have any gene mutations that would cause this. My cancer is 100% environmental which is terrifying. I am also looking into alternative medicine practices to best support my body in fighting the cancer. Please keep me in your prayers as I begin the fight for my life. By this time next year, I will be back to the wife, mom and friend you all know. I am determined to see my son grow up, and to grow old with my husband. I love you all very much, thank you for your love and support. -Brit (We will be sharing updates to this page periodically)

Special Notes

After a lot of research and consultations with experts, we have come to the conclusion the best diet for fighting cancer is an organic vegan diet free from non-fruit sugars and white starches. However my caregivers and son still appreciate healthy meals of any kind!
