In December 2024, Debbie fractured a vertebra. It got progressively worse and finally a complex surgical procedure became the best option. The operation will be performed at the M Health Fairview - U of M Riverside on Monday, January 5th. The recovery for Debbie will be 5-7 days in the hospital with the hope that she will be able to go straight home instead of a transitional care unit. When home, Debbie will be looking at 6 months of healing, PT, strengthening, stretching, and walking with a full recovery happening in around the 12-month mark. Debbie's husband Tom will be by her side helping with this recovery. We will offer periodic updates on this site with some prayer requests and tangible ways you can help Debbie and Tom over the next several months. We are grateful to all who have offered support and have prayed for Debbie's surgery!
Debbie and Tom don't have the appetites like they used to, but meal support could be very helpful over the next several months for those interested in supporting them in this way through cooked meals, gift cards, and meal delivery services.
