Helping Domestic Violence Victims & Survivors with Life After Abuse

Story

Adore to Empower is a 501c3 tax-exempt charitable organization that educates, empowers, and supports women with the resources, skills, and confidence necessary to lead them into a healthy lifestyle and independence with life after abuse. We provide short-term housing and supply their daily needs while in our program (i.e., household, cleaning products, food, clothing, etc.). By building partnerships with individuals and communities, Adore strives to help break the silence and the cycle of domestic violence via awareness campaigns and educational workshops/seminars. We work for social change through education, service collaboration, and institutional advocacy. Why Domestic Violence Survivors? 1 in every 4 women is affected by domestic violence, and every 9 seconds, a woman is beaten. It is not only important to help women escape to safety and achieve independence, but to help them heal from within, which is the best long-term solution to this shocking fact. Lack of support and empowerment is often the critical missing piece for many domestic violence survivors, outside of not having anywhere to go. Sadly, not all victims or survivors receive the help or support that they need for various reasons. And if they do, it is only for a short period. As time moves on, the following questions continually appear: "How do I heal? How do I forgive? How do I stop the cycle? How do I move on? Who am I?" Adore To Empower is here to support them for a lifetime. Help us continue to spread awareness, and provide resources for victims & survivors of domestic violence (ie, food, clothing, hygiene items, household goods, gas stipends, rent, relocation services, etc.). We are self-funded and operate strictly on donations so every little bit helps. ABOUT THE FOUNDER: Jodine Brown (formerly Basterash) is a survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault, advocate, author, and speaker. After enduring 14 years of domestic abuse, she understands the vicious cycle and its impact not only on the victim, but also on the children. Jodine provides insight, strength, encouragement, and hope. She is a powerful example that we do not have to be products of our circumstances, and is a firm believer that we have the power within ourselves to rise above our past and create the life we choose. Her story is proof that it's never too late for a new beginning, and she is PASSIONATE about working with other domestic violence victims & survivors!
