Love for Lilly, supporting the Flanagan Family

Waltham, MA

Story

In 2023, after a routine mammogram, a needle biopsy showed that I had lobular carcinoma in situ: a rare and aggressive pre-cancerous group of cells. I had a lumpectomy November 2023 with the hopes that all these pre-cancerous cells would be removed and I was placed on an aggressive scan schedule. Unfortunately, October 2024 several areas showed concern again and biopsy of 2 sites confirmed the same lobular carcinoma in situ. In July 2025 I had another lumpectomy, this time removing 3 sites of abnormal cells. Unfortunately, hiding amongst those cells was invasive ductal carcinoma. After much discussion with my surgeon, my oncologist and my family, I decided to move forward with a bilateral mastectomy and lymph node removal. I do not know yet if I will need any further treatment like chemotherapy or radiation. we are taking this one step at a time. I have the most amazing support system, and I know I'm going to kick cancers ass! While recovering from surgery for about 6 weeks, myself and my family could use some support: mental, physical, financial, whatever is possible. We will keep everyone posted about progress, changes in my health or whatever else pops up along the way. Thank you thank you for considering this and helping love my family, who I could not do this without! We feel very fortunate, and when I'm all healed I will be giving this back in return. Please consider donating to my fundraising page for breast cancer research. I want to give back for the wonderful care I've received. https://danafarber.jimmyfund.org/site/TR/GivingPage/MyPage?pg=team&fr_id=1200&team_id=33392
