My parents are the first to offer help and last ones to ask for help. My dad, Jerry, is dealing with a health issue that has limited his mobility and caused what he described as the worst pain of his life. I am a daddy's girl and I am scared, he looks worse than he did during his heart surgeries. He is facing months of intense care, at least 6 weeks of daily in home infusions taking hours, and recovery. My mom, Cindy, needs knee replacement surgery and opted to defer it to care for my dad. She puts her needs to the side to a fault. Just before my brother passed away he called me out of the blue and made me promise to take care of them. As the eldest I usually do however it is really hard to do when mom is pushing hard to do it all herself and asks for nothing. I am trying to be there for them as much as possible but I work full time as a teacher, have 2 active toddlers, a disabled spouse and know I can't do everything they need. So I am reaching out to my friends, extended family, my parents many beloved students and anyone who can help. I've never requested help like this before so I appreciate any support and insight to give my parents some ease during my dad's recovery.
Thank you
