Meal & Grocery Train for the Mullen Family

W
Story

There are moments in life that just make no sense. We are hitting one of those right now. After odd rib cage pain that started in April, 4 ER visits with 4 different diagnoses, followed by being admitted for a week only to be told there was nothing wrong and nothing that could be done to help her, on May 11, she lost the ability to walk. Thankfully we got her to another hospital with better care. Within 24 hours, she was diagnosed with an Ependymoma spinal tumor and was told she would need surgery (the next day!) and would need to relearn how to walk. You can imagine how much of an upside down toll this can take on a family already, and even more when you have a young child. We got her through the surgery and removal of tumor, and thankfully it is non cancerous. She will be able to walk again...but it will be about 6 to 12 months of hard rehab and retraining. It can take up to 60 months to return to 'normal' function. Right now, she is in outpatient rehab during the week and working on being able to simply stand unassisted. I see her trying. I see her keeping a good face, but I know it has been emotionally and physically draining to the extreme. All she can think about it is being able to be a Mommy to her 4 year old again, and being able to function around the house again. My brother- in- law is doing everything he can to keep things going, too. She is a very private person. She helps people without posting about it...and would rather give help than receive. So I'm doing this because I know she won't. If you can manage to help her and the family in any way, it would be greatly appreciated. ANYTHING will help. Medical bills are piling up. A dollar helps. Nothing is too small. They need assistance with things like groceries and meals, and getting the doors widened in the house for her wheelchair. She's never asked for help and has always been there for me, so I'm hoping I can gather enough people to help support some of her needs now. Thank you so much. Please share this, too. Every share helps.

Special Notes

What helps the most right now is grocery and meal delivery options. Thank you!
