Helping Hearts for Gentry 💙 Supporting Gentry, Ashton and Cheri

Washington, MO

Story

Gentry will be having his second open-heart surgery on the November 24th at just 15 months old. The conduit that was placed during his surgery in January isn’t working properly, which means he’s not getting enough blood flow to his lungs. After his heart catheter procedure on November 3rd, Ashton and Cheri were told the conduit would need to be replaced within the next few months, so they thought they had at least a little time for planning and getting through the holidays. This of course was on top of originally thinking Gentry could make it to 2-3 years old before the second open-heart surgery. But God had other plans — on November 10th they were told the surgery would essentially need to happen ASAP. This of course will mean Thanksgiving in the hospital and likely limited Christmas celebrations in order to keep Gentry distant from potential illnesses so soon after surgery. Ashton will need to get back to work as soon as possible after the surgery to support the family, but missing any work to be at the hospital will of course make their budget tight, and right as the holidays approach. The hope is, some meal and cooking assistance will greatly relieve some of the stress of work, commutes, time for cooking and shopping, hospital time and of course a great deal of care once Gentry is released.
