In July of this year, I was diagnosed with grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma in my left breast. I’m having a lumpectomy/segmental mastectomy and sentinel lymph node removal in Chicago on October 6. We’ll learn more from the pathology afterward and meet with my care team on October 19 to talk through what comes next. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the many people who have already reached out. Asking for help is new territory for me, and your kindness has made it feel a lot less daunting. Over the next few weeks, the most useful help will be practical things that keep life moving for Jason, Corrigan, Spencer, and my mom while I recover: an occasional school or activity ride, a load of laundry, a household errand, or dinner on a day when we need it. I’ll add specific requests with dates and details as our schedule becomes clear, especially while Jason is traveling. That way, anyone who wants to help can choose something that genuinely fits their day, and we can spread the support out. There is absolutely no pressure to sign up for anything. A message, a check-in, or simply being here means a great deal to us. If you are a woman over 40 and have not yet had your annual screening mammogram, PLEASE get it scheduled ASAP. If you are not yet 40 and have noticed any lumps, pain, or changes in your breast tissue, DON'T wait- let your doctor know so that they can be proactive and check early. We will also use this page to share updates so we don’t have to tell the same story over and over and inundate you all with texts. Thank you for caring for me and my family. 💚
We love all types of food, however, Jason has an allergy to pork and red onions.
