This page is being started for Steve Southard and his family. Steve has been feeling under the weather for about two weeks with what he thought was another bout of Covid. Steve has not visited a doctor in over 25 years but his illness was getting worse day by day and on the evening of September 6th Sally drove him to the hospital. It was at the hospital they discovered Steve was diabetic and had been for some time. Unfortunately the diabetes had taken its toll, and when they learned his heart was involved they sent him by Life Flight to Wake Med in Winston-Salem where he remains in the cardiac ICU. The doctor’s are doing their best to strengthen Steve’s heart and kidneys, and also control his diabetes to prepare him for what will come next for him medically and to make Steve strong enough to come home again. He has a long road in front of him. As you can imagine, Sally would love to be by his side every day helping him through this. However, she will need to return to work and care for Baylee and the home. As we all know, there are so many things that must get done on a daily basis and right now the Southard’s could use your help with some of that. This calendar has been started in order for Sally to post what help is needed most, and for those who would like to show support to know when that can be given and be most beneficial. Steve loves his community and this is a time to pull together and love him back!
Steve is only allowed two visitors at a once. Because they often change his location in the ICU, large items like flowers or gift baskets should not be sent at this time.
