Hi friends! ❤️ Many of you have been asking what happened, so here's my story. I took a tumble down the stairs while carrying way too much and yes, there were items left on the stairs too. It was the classic "I'll save myself a trip" and multitasking moment. Looking back, that second trip would've been a much better choice! (You have to laugh so you don't cry, right?) Thankfully, my granddaughter was visiting when it happened. She quickly grabbed my phone so I could call an ambulance and got the dogs out of the way while we waited for help. I'm so grateful she was there. After a trip to the ER, I learned I had multiple fractures, broke both sides of my ankle, and my ankle had completely dislocated from its socket. I was admitted to the hospital and, after five days, was finally able to go home in a cast to let the swelling go down before surgery. My surgery is scheduled for July 24, and afterward I'll be completely non-weight bearing on my foot for at least 6+ weeks. Even simple everyday tasks will be a challenge. My daughter, Rachel, has been by my side through all of this, and I'd love to give her some time back with her husband and girls whenever possible. We have a calendar with all the daily and weekly tasks she has been helping me with. The good news is I don't need medical care just an extra set of hands for safety and help with the things I won't be able to do on my own. I'm actually getting around pretty well and have even impressed my physical therapist with how quickly I've adapted! 😊 If you'd like to help, it could be something as simple as sending a meal or gift card, picking up an online grocery order, stopping by for a visit, helping with a few household tasks, or even spending the night occasionally so I have someone nearby if needed. Please don't feel any pressure at all. I know everyone has busy lives, and your friendship, prayers, and encouragement already mean so much to me. But if you've been wondering how you could help during my recovery, these little acts of kindness would make a huge difference and help take some of the stress off our family. Thank you all for being such an incredible support system. We love and appreciate you more than you know. ❤️
My dark brown dachshund is an escape artist and loves to bolt out the front door! I usually leave the main door open with just the glass storm door closed. If you're stopping by, you're always welcome, but please be extra careful when coming in or out so she doesn't make a run for it. Thank you!
