If you’re on this page, then you know why you’re here. The Mackey family has suffered something that those of us with children should never have to experience—and never want to imagine. Right now, they are being incredibly strong and powering through what needs to be done to get the memorial and service underway. Through conversation, I can tell they’re getting things done, but they’re also not really being given the space or time to grieve. When things like this happen, people sometimes forget to do the simple things—like eat well or even eat at all, not thinking about eating or cooking. And they still have a family to care for. Jernni and Zion are children who are processing the loss of their older sister, and during this time we want to make sure that something as basic as food and dinner is one less thing they have to worry about. So what I’m going to do is make this a food train—not just to get them through the next couple of weeks they’ve somehow found the strength to push through, but so that we, as a community, can continue to provide for them after the memorial service as well. That’s when Ken and Rebecca are really going to start processing the tragic loss of their beloved daughter Joylyn. In the same way you all found it in your hearts to show up financially—which I truly want to thank you for, and thank everyone who has donated to the GoFundMe—we’re asking you to find that same place in your heart to help provide meals for this family over the next 30 to 45 days. There are enough of us here to make that happen with just a few clicks and a couple of swipes. I’ve tried to make the process as easy as possible. And I want to thank you now, from the bottom of my heart, on behalf of the family and the friends who are witnessing this outpouring of support. Thank you all so very much.
