Gary and Danette's Journey

Story

Gary started getting sick about 6 months ago. He was suffering with diverticulitis. A couple of weeks ago he went to the ER in severe pain, thinking that was what was going on. With testing it was discovered he actually had a blockage. They went on to discover the blockage was actually a tumor. It’s stage 4 colon cancer. They say it’s definitely in the liver and likely his lungs. They say it’s incurable but can be managed with a chemo pump (which is usually well tolerated). As long as he continues treatment, he can have a long life. He likely will always have the ostomy as the main mass is attached to his abdominal wall and multiple other things like the ureter. They have discovered a more aggressive cancer in his liver. Will have to deal with that first. Lung biopsy is Monday. His healing is incredibly slow. The strange, kind of good news is that the cancer in his liver is completely unrelated to the cancer in his colon. It’s more aggressive but responds well to chemo. The fact that it’s unrelated to the colon cancer means that he will be able to have the colon mass removed eventually.

Special Notes

On top of the challenges of dealing with the cancers, Gary is without insurance. Please keep this precious couple in your prayers.
