Support for Shelley

Canton, GA

Story

On August 1st, 2025, Shelley went to the ER after experiencing several progressing, unexpected, and concerning symptoms. After a series of tests, she was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma, a rare, benign brain tumor that affects the nerves responsible for hearing and balance. Since then, she has had many appointments, consultations, and spent hours researching to find the right path forward. After much consideration, she connected with a team of specialists at UC San Diego who specialize in Acoustic Neuromas. This surgical team is scheduled to remove the tumor on January 9th. While she will experience permanent complete hearing loss in her right ear, we are focused on doing everything possible to hopefully achieve a full recovery in all other areas. Following surgery, Shelley will remain in California for two weeks of initial recovery and then begin a lengthy rehabilitation at home. She is expected to have several months of rehab, including physical and occupational therapy, to help restore strength, balance, and mobility. Many friends and family have asked how they can help during this journey, and this page is a wonderful way to do so. Prayers are welcome and appreciated—for peace leading up to surgery, for her doctors and surgical team, and for a full and steady recovery. Meals, gifts, drop-offs, and any potential visits can be coordinated through Taylor. Every gesture—big or small—is deeply appreciated. Thank you for supporting Shelley on this journey. 💛 - Taylor

Special Notes

Visitation will be extremely limited when Shelley returns home. Hopefully, she will be up for a few visitors sooner rather than later, but our primary focus will be getting her home, comfortable, and on the way to recovery. I have set up a meal train starting when she gets home from CA. There are no food allergies, but soft, easy-to-chew foods will be the easiest for her to eat in the beginning.
