Our family is going through a season we never expected, and right now ❤️ On Sunday, September 6th, my husband, Phillip, was involved in a very serious head-on collision in Waynesboro, Georgia. We are incredibly thankful that he survived, but he suffered a major hip injury, including a fractured hip and significant damage to his hip socket. After several difficult days of waiting and preparing, Phillip underwent a major surgery to repair his injuries. His recovery is going to be a long one. He will be non-weight-bearing for 12 weeks and will need extensive physical therapy and rehabilitation. The doctors are recommending inpatient rehabilitation so he can receive the care and therapy he needs before he is able to safely return home. Unfortunately, this happened at an already incredibly difficult time for our family. Right before Phillip’s accident, I unexpectedly lost my job after being out sick for an extended period of time. Now Phillip is unable to work for the foreseeable future, and I am currently not working while I try to take care of him and our family. We are also facing the challenge of figuring out how to make our home accessible for him while he is unable to walk. We are also caring for our 4-year-old son, Mason, while navigating everything that comes with Phillip’s hospitalization and recovery. Trying to balance taking care of Mason, being at the hospital with Phillip, managing our home, and figuring out what comes next has been incredibly overwhelming. We have received so much love, prayers, encouragement, and support already, and we are beyond grateful. ❤️ We know there are so many people who want to help but may not know what would actually be useful. That is why we created this meal and support calendar. A meal may seem like a small thing, but right now it can take one more responsibility off our plate. There are days when we’re at the hospital, dealing with appointments, helping Phillip, taking care of Mason, or simply trying to make it through the day. Having dinner already taken care of would mean more to us than we can put into words. You can help in whatever way works best for you: 🍝 Sign up to provide a meal 🛒 Help with groceries 🍕 Have a meal delivered 💳 Send a restaurant or grocery gift card ❤️ Leave an encouraging message or prayer There is absolutely no pressure to give. Sharing this page, sending a prayer, checking in, or simply reminding us that we’re not alone means just as much. We don’t expect anyone to fix everything we’re facing. We are simply trying to take things one day at a time and accept the kindness of the people who have offered to walk alongside us through this. Our family has a long road ahead, but we are holding onto hope, faith, and gratitude. Phillip is fighting hard every day, and we’re doing everything we can to get him through this recovery and eventually home.
Thank you for loving our family, praying for Phillip, checking on us, sharing our story, and helping carry some of the weight during a time when everything feels overwhelming. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. ❤️ — The Rogers Family
