On February 14th, Mia was seen by a neurologist at Phoenix Children's Hospital due to progressive leg and hip numbness she has been experiencing since January. The neurologist initially suspected MS and arranged for her to be directly admitted to the downtown campus for further evaluation. After MRIs of her brain and spinal cord, MS was ruled out. While we are grateful for that news, imaging revealed a tumor at the T8–T9 level of her spine (mid-back). The tumor is approximately the size of a golf ball .and has significant blood flow. Surgery was successful and the tumor was removed. An additional MRI will be done to confirm that they got everything out. The pathology report showed that the tumor was benign, although they sending it out for further testing. We are praying for wisdom for her medical team, clear direction for next steps, and complete healing for Mia. Please also pray for peace, comfort, and strength for her and our family as we walk through this. If you feel led to support our family with meals during this time, the Meal Train link is below. Your love and support has carried our family through these dark and murky waters.
