Shoshana's Cancer Fighting Circle

Brooklyn, NY

Story

Hi friends, Our friend Shoshana (AKA Shosh, Elizabeth, or Lizzie) has been battling cancer since 2018, largely on her own. She's now asking for support to continue the fight as she's finding it more and more challenging to go at it alone. When I met with Shosh recently, I looked at her and told her that no one should have to do this alone. I hope you will join me to offer your friendship and support as she faces this next chapter of the illness. Background Shosh was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer called oligodendroglioma (Grade 2) in 2018. She has had two surgeries (2018 and 2020) in hopes that they would successfully get rid of the cancer, but unfortunately it reappeared again last year, in 2025. Her current doctors are advising radiation therapy, which Shosh is nervous about and would like to avoid. Although Shosh thankfully has many good days, living with a brain tumor means coping with seizures, brain fog, physical weakness, and the ongoing emotional and logistical demands of treatment. Much of her energy also goes toward coordinating medical care, researching options, adapting to changing limitations, and managing day-to-day needs like preparing healthful meals. Support She Needs Now At this stage, one of the biggest ways we can support Shosh is by helping her feel less alone in navigating complex medical decisions. Support could include: **Helping connect her with brain cancer specialists and researchers who may be familiar with emerging treatments or clinical options. **Assisting with research into treatment approaches and access to care. **Accompanying her to medical appointments for emotional support and process information about treatment options and protocols. **Offering practical and emotional support as she manages the day-to-day realities of living with cancer. Follow this page and sign up for updates if you’d like to be part of the circle supporting Shosh on this journey. We'll send updates about how Shosh is doing and occasional requests for support.

Special Notes

Shosh is avoiding the intake of sugars (zero processed sugar and very limited simple carbs). That means no carbs and plenty of cruciferous veggies, mushrooms, berries, and other nutrient-dense whole foods.
