Kathy’s Chemo Cuisine

Fargo, ND

Story

It’s time to rally our love and support for Kathy, Dan, and their entire family!! The bad news: After a high-risk screening and biopsy, Kathy was diagnosed last week with an aggressive type of breast cancer. This unwelcome guest has messed up her family’s “normal,” causing disruption and chaos. The good news: Kathy does high-risk screening every 6 months, so the cancer was caught early (Stage 1, Level 2), and has not left her breast, which changes the game in regard to her ability to kiss this intruder goodbye! Kathy is very encouraged by this good new!! The treatment is basically the same, regardless of staging, due to how aggressive it is, so that means six months of some pretty tough chemo that will be done at Essentia, then surgery, radiation, and a final round of chemo to be determined which will last about another 3 to 4 months, so we are in for the long haul friends! Kathy has an amazing family, a village of support in her friends and coworkers, and a team of first-class medical providers on her side so we have no doubt she will evict this intruder and send them packing!! Please keep her entire family in your prayers!!

Special Notes

We will update this page with ways to help Kathy and her family, so visit often! - Please keep sentiments positive and send good energy! - If you choose to send gift cards for food, the family prefers not to order through delivery services, so stick to gift cards for the actual restaurants - some like their food HOT! 😁 - It is just 3 of them at home most of the time, so 2-3 days a week is plenty. They will need time to eat the leftovers! 🍲. Kathy‘s daughter, Dani, is allergic to gluten. In case you aren’t up on your gluten-free allergy knowledge, gluten is not just found in flour, bread or noodles. It can also be found in some meat/sausages, spices, soups, gravy, etc., so doing some homework might be necessary. It is perfectly OK if meals are not gluten-free, they can always make a side meal for her but if someone wanted to ensure that Dani could eat too, you could search the Internet for gluten-free foods or send a gift card to places with gluten free options. (some places are linked in the wishlist and other local places with GF options are like Sickies, Brew Bird/701 Eateries, Kobe's, Nine Dragons, Smiling Moose, Erbert and Gerbert, Caseys Pizza, BBQ places, most mexican restaurants)
