✨Helping Jill Recover From Spinal Surgery✨

Fort Collins, CO

Story

On December 18th, I'll be undergoing my first ever surgery at the Medical Center of the Rockies, and it's a doozy! Treating stenosis and doing a spinal fusion.😢 They will be shaving degenerative bone from my spinal column to make room for my (currently pinched) nerves, and then fusing two lumbar vertebrae to my sacrum. Ouch!!! I will recover for (hopefully) one day in the hospital, then coming home Friday, where Shannon will be solo taking care of me, and the kids. I can't drive for two weeks, or lift anything more than 10lbs for the 12 week recovery period. I'm obviously nervous how my body will respond. My kids will be home for the holiday break during my initial recovery- it's going to be a much different holiday for us than usual. Since I'd like Shannon to have as much support as possible as well- my sweet coven sister set up this meal train for us!!! If Shannon doesn't have to worry about feeding everyone, he will be better able to attend to my needs. I understand that this is a busy and stressful time for most everyone, so we appreciate any little help you can offer- even just well wishes!!! <3 ***ALSO- if anyone wants to take Zen or Paloma out for a bit of fun, that would be appreciated too! I won't be able to do much with them over break and I know they'll be stir crazy!***

Special Notes

I was hesitant to start a meal train because I have so many weird food restrictions. BUT- honestly- I am more concerned about my family getting fed, and Shannon not having to worry about lunch and dinners for the kids, so he can focus on my needs. Gift cards are great! I'll list things I like to eat, just in case. :) My family has no food restrictions and likes pasta dishes, casseroles, grilled meats and vegetables, Asian foods, pizza, sandwiches. Some restaurants we frequent: Spoons, Modern Market, Jason's Deli, Noodles, East Moon. I do eat low FODMAP as a guide. My main things are gluten free, soy free, light on the dairy, and no onions. And I do not eat beef or pork. I eat a LOT of GF chicken and salads. (Dressing on the side!) I like fish, all veggies (except onions), and GF whole grains and high fiber foods. (Beans, chia, hummus, oatmeal, buckwheat, rice, quinoa). Great substitutions are using ground turkey instead of beef, using gluten free crusts, bread, or crackers. I put (4) as the need, but for "regular" food- there will only be (3) servings. :) Thank you so much for you care and consideration as we navigate together on this new journey.
