Love and Recovery for Jen

Bend, OR

W
Story

Jen is finally having her long-overdue spine surgery, and the next several weeks will be a big adjustment for her and her family. As a single parent, Jen is used to taking care of everyone else. During her recovery, she’ll need to rely on her kids for help with everyday responsibilities, including getting her daughter to and from school, while she focuses on healing. For the first few weeks, Jen will have restrictions on lifting and bending as she recovers from spine and disk surgery. Her surgeon expects her recovery to take about six weeks before she can return to work. And because Jen is a self-employed dog groomer, there really isn’t a “light duty” version of her job. Her work is physical and requires lifting, bending, standing, and handling dogs. Until she is cleared to safely return, she won’t be able to work, which means she will also be without her usual income. That is a significant financial and practical strain for a single-parent family, especially while Jen is focused on healing. We can’t take all of that weight away, but we can help ease one small burden: meals. If you’re able, please consider providing a meal for Jen and her family during her recovery. You can drop off a home-cooked meal or order DoorDash for them. Please only provide “ready-to-eat” meals. Every meal is a small act of love. It means one less thing for Jen and her kids to worry about while she focuses on getting better. Thank you for surrounding Jen and her family with love, care, and support during this important time. ❤️
