Love and Support for Stevens Road to Recovery ❤️‍🩹

Story

On January 5th Steven was sent to the hospital by ambulance for severe abdominal pain. Scans and labs showed an infection along with dehydration, and he was wrongfully discharged later that night with a diverticulitis diagnosis and given oral antibiotics. Since 12/26/21, he has not had solid food nor has he been able to keep liquids down, let alone be able to take any oral medications. The next few days his condition kept worsening and he knew something was wrong. That Monday on January 10th, he saw his primary care doctor and was sent to the ER immediately for severe dehydration and to have his liver & kidney functions checked. He was then admitted with a severe sepsis infection and had an urgent surgical consult. He was to be monitored on fluids and IV antibiotics for 24-48 hours. His body was not responding to treatment and his nurse on 1/13 noticed his abdomen was more extended, and he was taken in for emergency surgery that evening. His surgery lasted nearly 5 hours and he had an abscess on his abdomen that contained a 1/2 liter of infection. If they did not take him when they did and the abscess burst, there would have been no saving him. Following surgery he had more complications and suffered a bleed where he lost a significant amount of blood and he had to have another procedure done right in his room to control and stop the bleed. Luckily, the surgeon on call was able to locate it and stop it. He then needed to have a blood transfusion given the amount of blood loss and his white cell count being critical. Since his blood transfusion things have finally started going in a more positive direction. He’s still not out of the woods yet, but with every day he is getting stronger and his levels are slowly looking better and better. Steven is a fighter and he has held onto his faith & has gained a much more personal relationship with God to help see him through this. This page was created to share your love and support for Steven during this hardship, as well as provide updates on his recovery. He has been the one that has provided for his family and this has taken a heavy toll all around. His family will need a little extra help with meals, cooking, cleaning, and shopping. Donations are also appreciated https://paypal.com/pools/c/8GRIz4IK38 . Your prayers, well wishes, and support do not go unnoticed and we are so grateful during this time of need. ❤️‍🩹
