Story
Many of you know Scarlett was first diagnosed with Wilms Tumor in November of 2023. Her journey with cancer has been a rollercoaster with many ups and downs. Last week, Scarlett's oncologist called Abbey and Matt to regretfully inform them Scarlett had pervasive disease in her abdomen. We now know that means she has multiple tumors filling her entire abdominal cavity, exceeding the size of her two previous tumors. Everyone is baffled by the rate of growth of this tumor, given her positive response to chemo and radiation and her clear scans less than three months ago. Wilms tumor has a lower recurrence rate compared to many other cancers. Recurrence in this same location and following full abdomen radiation is extraordinary. Starting December 12, Scarlett will begin to prepare for her next round of treatments. The journey ahead for Scarlett and the whole Schwarz family will be a treacherous one. There is a lot of unknown right now but we know the chemo regimen will be more intense and will consistent of five days of inpatient done at MD Anderson. Everyone was so generous through Scarlett's last round of treatments. You all are already reaching out and wanting to understand how you can help again. The intent of this page is to provide a singular place of ways we currently know we can help the Schwarz Family - we plan to provide updates here as well as new items on the calendar on a regular basis as their schedule and Scarlett's treatment changes. Right now, we've started to document needs on the care calendar, so you can sign up to help them via various methods like (home cooked meals, gift card for the hospital days, laundry services, or home cleaning services). We will update this and send updates on her treatment regularly. If you’d like to donate money use the Visa or Care card option - this will allow them to pick how they’d like to use the funds. We appreciate you all and ask for your continued prayers and thoughts for our sweet baby Scarlett.
