This page is being set up to help the family and friends of Jill Austin keep up-to-date with Jill's condition, and also be aware of any needs of Jill's family during this difficult time. On October 3, 2025, Jill was struck by a vehicle while walking in her neighborhood. While we are all grateful that Jill survived and was spared worse possibilities, her injuries are serious. She will need hospitalization, likely for the rest of this week, and faces a long recovery afterwards. Jill is currently at UNC Hospital and is with her family. Jill suffered a dislocated hip, which thankfully was resolved without surgery. She received surgery on Monday to help stabilize her ribs, which are broken in several places. She also has other significant internal injuries. Jill has always been a strong, optimistic, and determined person. If anyone can face these challenges, it is her. Jill is deeply beloved by her family and friends, and we have been inundated with requests to help the family with meals. At the moment, that need is being met, but other issues may arise that require extra help, as Jill's husband and children are going to be heavily occupied with her care in the coming weeks. We love Jill, and we love Colin, Graham, Ben, Truman, Seth, and Hazel. We hope they can feel the strength of our hope, and the power of our prayers.
Jill is in the rehab center in Hillsborough. The address is 430 Waterstone Dr. Take the main hospital entrance, then take the elevators to the right to the third floor. If you are bringing food or snacks for Jill, please be aware she is allergic to walnuts. She is in room 3H211. For those bringing food--Thank you!!! Just a heads up that there are only 5-6 eaters in the house and others are bringing food. We don't want to waste any food, so there's no need for food for an army.
