Life can shift in an instant, bringing moments of profound loss and incredible new beginnings all at once. Back in July, I said goodbye to my mother... While we were able to cover her final arrangements (with help from the community), navigating life afterward without a will has brought an overwhelming wave of unexpected legal fees, property transfers, and household expenses required to keep fully transfer assets. Just as we were trying to find our footing, our family welcomed a new baby on August 23rd. Because I am currently on unpaid maternity leave to heal and care for our newest addition, our household income has temporarily paused while daily bills, groceries, gas for medical appointments, and infant essentials like diapers continue to add up. At the same time, my older two children have just headed back to school, bringing the usual rush of school supplies, essentials, and upcoming activities. Asking for help doesn't come easily to me, but as a mom trying to keep everything steady for my kids through a major transitional season, I’ve realized it takes a village. Funds raised here will go directly toward covering estate and legal transfer fees to secure our living does not get majorly disrupted, essential living expenses, childcare costs for when I return to work, and basic family needs while on maternity leave.
