Some of you know her as Missy, some as Melissa Calvert. To me, she's Mel Burns. I'm Kelly, Wyatt's godmother. I met Melissa when she moved back to Seattle to care for her mom through her fight with lymphoma. That's just who Mel is. She shows up for people & family is everything. As you can imagine, facing cancer brings up a lot of emotion and reminders of how important every day is. For years, she and Matt have opened their home through foster care, giving kids stability, patience, and love when they needed it most. They have given so much to so many. Now it's their turn to be taken care of. Melissa was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. It was caught early, and we're hopeful she'll come through this stronger than ever. Her surgery is October 6, and will require a double mastectomy. A few of her friends are flying out to help during recovery. Even so, Matt and Melissa have a long few months ahead of them with treatment, surgery, doctor visits and healing. If you'd like to help, your gift can go toward delivery meals like Door Dash, groceries, a night out, childcare, housecleaning, a little spa day or whatever makes the days a bit lighter for their family. We also think of sweet Wyatt at this time who will need some activities while his mom is unable to be his jungle gym and ultimate playmate! Let's surround this family with the same love they've given away for years. God knows Melissa would do it for any one of us, now it's our turn. ❤️
