Living with hEDS & Chronic Illness - Help Me Rebuild My Life

W
Story

Hello, my name is Julia. I am living with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS), a complex connective tissue disorder that can affect the joints, muscles, nervous system, energy levels, and many other aspects of daily life. Over time, my health has deteriorated to the point where I have lost my career, much of my social life, my hobbies and the independence I once had. Symptoms such as chronic pain, severe fatigue, physical instability, and other complex health problems have made ordinary daily activities increasingly difficult. Like many people with hEDS, I also experience several additional symptoms and possible comorbid conditions that still require further specialist evaluation. Accessing doctors who truly understand complex and interconnected conditions can be extremely difficult, and many specialized assessments and treatments are not fully available or financially accessible through my current healthcare options. I am single and currently dependent on support from others in ways I never expected to be. My goal is to understand what is happening to my body, access appropriate medical care and create a stable living situation that allows me to regain as much independence as possible. The funds raised may be used for: Specialist consultations and second opinions Comprehensive medical assessments and diagnostic testing Treatments, therapies, and medical support not covered by insurance Mobility aids and practical support Health-related living expenses and a stable living environment that supports greater independence What I hope for is a real chance to receive better medical guidance, reduce my limitations and build a safer and more independent future. Any contribution, no matter how small, would help me move closer to that goal. Sharing this campaign would also mean a great deal to me. Thank you for reading my story and for considering supporting me. With gratitude, Julia Thanks to my friends, who helped me write this campaign and create some pictures. I also hope this campaign helps raise awareness of chronic illness and especially hEDS.
