Dear Friend, I hope you will forgive me for reaching out this way. Asking for help is something I never imagined I would have to do, and it is very difficult for me to put our situation into words. But right now, my husband and I are facing a crisis that we simply cannot get through alone. I am disabled and unable to work. My husband, Steve, has always worked and done everything he could to take care of our family. Sadly, he is now battling advanced cancer that has spread to his prostate, lungs, and lymph nodes, and he is no longer able to work. He is currently waiting for approval for his disability benefits. At this moment, our only income is my disability check of approximately $1,400 a month. That is all we have to live on while trying to keep up with our rent, utilities, food, medical expenses, and other necessities. We are doing everything we can to hold on, but we are now only weeks away from becoming homeless. I know there are many people who need help, and I know you receive requests from people you don't know. I also know that having financial means does not make someone responsible for someone else's struggles. That is why it is so difficult for me to ask. But if you are in a position to help us, any donation—large or small—would mean more to us than I could ever express. Even a small amount could help us keep a roof over our heads, keep food on the table, pay an overdue bill, or help with the expenses that come with Steve's cancer. If you are unable to donate, I completely understand. A prayer, sharing our story, or simply keeping us in your thoughts would also mean so much to us. We are not asking for a handout because we don't want to help ourselves. We are asking for a lifeline during one of the hardest times of our lives. We are trying desperately to stay together, keep our home, and get through this until Steve's disability is approved. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. I know you did not have to, and I am deeply grateful that you did. If you can help us in any way, please know that your kindness would make a real and immediate difference in our lives. With sincere gratitude and hope, Angela & Steve
