If you know anything about Courtney you know that she would much prefer to say nothing. But she has friends who love her dearly and won't allow that. In December she asked her primary care doctor for advice on a lump in her throat. It had been there for years and was mostly an aesthetic peculiarity but let's check it out anyway. A few months and scans and tests and exams later led to a diagnosis in March 2023. Papillary thyroid cancer. The good thing about a diagnosis is it presents options for treatment. The treatment for thyroid cancer is surgery and maybe one pill followed by hormone therapy. The surgery will be May 11. Whew. That was a lot to consider. Cancer. Surgery.
