Story
Last November My fiancé Bradley (24) experienced a traumatic event that lead him into to 55 minutes of cardiac arrest without oxygen (Heart attack) He now suffers from “Lance Adams syndrome”due to lack of oxygen. The (Basal ganglia) part of his brain is now dead and his heart isn’t functioning correctly. This has caused some of his brain wires to tangle and cause him not to be able to walk. He is using a wheelchair and or walker with the help of another person wether it’s me or his mom. We are from North Carolina and unfortunately there’s no specialist who studies his conditions around us. His neurologist is 3 hours away and it’s very pricey to get there and back. We have looked into neurologist’s who specifically studies LAS and they are all very far away in Ohio or Michigan which of course is also a very pricey trip Right now we only want to focus on getting his meds situated and getting him somewhat stable before going to the next step. However his situation has caused me to have to turn down work for right now for his safety of being at home alone we are currently living with his mother and stepfather who has thankfully allowed us to stay with them until he is stable which unfortunately hurts their pockets, naturally. His medications constantly change and the most important medications he’s taking are the most expensive of course insurance pays so much but they are still pretty costly. He has numerous appointments with cardiologists and his neurologist scheduled throughout the next few months paying for everything needed has gotten unbearable and very stressful. We have applied for disability and SSI and haven’t heard anything back which of course things like these take time.
Special Notes
My fiancé and I would love to get back to our lives and live somewhat normal. He would love to be able to get treatment and rehab to be able to walk again.
