I had a total replacement January 2023. It’s been a rocky road since then. My knee started swelling since spring right after replacement. Fast forward fall I knew I needed physical therapy. I sat on it for awhile and had insurance issues but finally got started. Physical therapist saw how swollen it was and knew I had to be seen. Went in to be seen and they ordered a bone scan. The bone scan showed my device was loose. He sent me to physical Theraphy and I started experiencing pain. This whole time my knee was hot. A MRI was ordered. I come back from my MRI there is fluid on my knee. They get an ultra sound machine to try and drain all the fluid. It’s a fail. It keeps going into the muscle but they did get enough to test. Find out a week later my knee is infected and I get to have 2 surgeries. I had my first one to remove the device and put in a temporary and antibiotics in June and was on several anitbiotics for the past 3 months. I have since seen an infectious disease specialist and have been cleared to have my second surgery another total knee replacement. That surgery was performed on 9/17 and am doing physical therapy 3 days a week.
