Loving Lyndi

Richland, MI

Story

Her Origin Story Because every super hero has an origin story. When I was 20 weeks pregnant, the doctors discovered that sweet Lyndi Clare had a heart defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome. This is a condition where the left side of her heart is underdeveloped and doesn't work the way that it should. The doctors explained that her heart could be made to work properly through a series of open heart surgeries; one at less than a week old, one at 4-6 months old, and one at 2 years old. Through the remainder of my pregnancy, I grappled with the concept of my sweet baby girl having all of these open heart surgeries, especially at less than a week old. I cried, but this was my tiny warrior. Sweet Lyndi Clare arrived at 9:16 am on Monday, February 3rd at a tiny 5 pounds 11 ounces at Mott's Children's Hospital at University of Michigan. Upon her arrival, she was whisked away for tests on her heart and I was brought to recovery. I impatiently waited to see my sweet baby girl, but instead was met with more developments of my tiny warrior's origin story. She had a second anatomy defect. Her trachea and esophagus weren't formed properly. Which meant more surgeries. This felt like more for a tiny baby to go through than most adults I knew. But as of Thursday February 6, Lyndi Clare is recovering well from her surgery that corrected her trachea and esophagus and resting up for her big heart surgery sometime next week. This is where I hope you'll consider helping. Lyndi will be in the hospital for at least the next 6 weeks, and I will be staying in the Ann Arbor area until she's discharged. As a single mother of a tiny warrior, I am taking off at least 12 weeks from work to be with her during her surgeries, recovery, and hopefully bring her home to settle into our own space. I am asking for monetary support to help cover my living expenses here in Ann Arbor, my time away from work, and of course Lyndi's medical expenses. I am also setting up a visitor schedule to allow me time with Lyndi as well as settle into a routine as a new momma. I'm not expecting everyone to be able to visit or make a donation, so regardless of what you can or cannot do, I ask that you keep sweet Lyndi in your thoughts and prayers. She's a true super hero. The strongest human I know also happens to be the tiniest. I thank you in advance. All the love to each and every one of you.
