Story
This page is being setup to help elevate meal costs as we return our mother and grandmother back home to Indiana for the final time. Let us introduce you to her: On Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, Sherry M. Sage (McAlpin), age 75, was gently called home to her Lord and Savior in Austin, Texas. A woman of deep and enduring faith, Sherry passed on the day of resurrection, a beautiful reflection of the hope and promise she carried in her heart. Formerly of Gas City, Indiana, Sherry lived a life marked by grace, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family, her church, and God. Sherry was born on October 31, 1949, in Marion, Indiana, and was a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church, where she loved to serve in the Children’s Ministry as a Sunday School teacher; she loved spending time with the Young at Heart group - whether in bible study or playing games or just spending time with her cherished friends and church family. Throughout life, Sherry worked in many positions, but none as rewarding as her job caring for Veterans and providing home healthcare. She loved to listen to music, from Elvis to Toby Keith to the Gaither’s, she enjoyed watching reruns of Gunsmoke, Murder She Wrote, and Matlock; Saturdays were her western movie days (most of which were in black and white), and she oddly enough was secretly a fan of the WWE (yes, she loved “The Rock”) and even attended a WrestleMania event to see him with her own eyes. In her later years, she moved to Dayton, OH, to spend time with her son and family there. She enjoyed concerts (like Frankie Valli, Toby Keith, and Garth Brooks), cookouts, pool parties, and gatherings (all of which had late nights spent playing cards and listening to music, singing, and dancing in the garage), airshows, and traveling when she could. Most of all, she cherished spending every moment with her children, grandchildren, and her growing number of great-grandchildren and friends. She is survived by her three children, Laura (Dean) Davis, Chuck McAlpin, David (Renee’) McAlpin; her brothers Tom (Diane) Sage, Bob Sage, John Sage; her 12 grandchildren, Steven Allen (Kristen) Chapel, Joey (Sherri) McAlpin, Dustin (Emily) McAlpin, Sage (Tiffany) McAlpin, Spencer Davis, Page Anna (Beau) Roberts, Cody (Shelby) McAlpin, Kati (Angel) Davis-Renovato, Libby Rae Davis, Dylan (Kayla) McAlpin, Simon (Heavyn) Davis, Shaley (Chad) Shipley, and the growing number of great-grandchildren. Sherry experienced a lot of losses in life; yet her faith remained the same. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Charles and Dorothy Sage; sister Diana Kay (Ronnie) Osborn; nephew Gene Thomas “Tommy” Sage; cousin Bruce Beekman; and great-granddaughter Rileigh Jade McAlpin.
