Thank you for visiting The Balentine's Give InKind page. Thank you to all those who helped and brought food, gift cards, cheer and chores to their house. Allison's big surgery to remove the right half of her liver is on Monday, October 18th. Georgia is the point person for this next phase and she can be reached at 978-992-6543. For those of you who live far away, we have included Instacart and Whole Foods gift card options. You can sign up to help in the following ways: - Prepared Dinners: we are looking for three meals a week for the next month!

Allison plans to follow a nutrient-dense, anti-inflammatory diet to support her body while she is undergoing treatment and healing her body. When choosing what to bring her please consider the following: - Organic when possible - Chicken, turkey, seafood and egg dishes (over red meat) - Plenty of colorful vegetables and salads - Fruit (berries are ideal) - Whole grains such as brown rice, quinoa - Black beans, lentils and other legumes - Gluten and dairy free or light (when possible) For some ideas, you might search for Mediterranean diet recipes. Here is a link with some good options. https://downshiftology.com/best-mediterranean-recipes/ Other meal ideas: - Lentil soup - Chicken and vegetable stews or stews - Stir-fry broccoli, carrots, red peppers with garlic - Black bean chili - Vegetable quiche - Steamed rice with chicken and vegetables - Fruit salad with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and pomegranate seeds - Cut up carrots, red peppers, celery, etc - Grilled chicken, broccoli and sweet potato - Ground turkey stuffed peppers We will update this information as she gets more information from her oncology nutritionist and as her preferences may change.
