Thank you for all who have supported the Riches family as Melissa battles stage 3 cancer. Melissa has begun her second phase of treatment, which is high dose chemotherapy locally at Mosaic Lifecare in St. Joseph. This will last for 8 rounds and 4 months. Melissa and Aaron will travel back to Mayo Clinic at the end of January 2025 for follow up scans. Special Notes
Freezer meals can be dropped off at the Slobodniks' house: 1800 N 2nd. Please follow the dietary restrictions outlined below. We do not have a microwave. We are looking for the following kinds of pre-cooked freezer meals stored in ziplock freezer bags, already frozen or not yet frozen. Types of meals can include: soups or stews such as chicken noodle, chicken or veggie curry, pasta or pizza sauces, chilis, shredded chicken for tacos, etc. Dietary restrictions: NO pork, beef, or dairy for freezer meals. Nothing spicy. No non-dairy cheese substitutes, please. Please avoid ground meats. Turkey, chicken, and fish are fine. All fruits and veggies are fine. Gluten is fine. Please don't bring bread/pasta/rice/sides/dessert at this time. Please label the freezer bag with contents and date, that they can heat up, make the rice or noodles to go along with it, and eat. The Riches don't have an extra freezer, so please bring meals to Elizabeth's house, 1800 N 2nd Street. She will put it in her deep freezer and bring over 5-6 bags once each week, on the weekend. They would also like fresh fruit, if you want to bring something for them to snack on. Fruit can be delivered right to their front porch. Suggestions for meals: Chicken curry (mild) Cooked, shredded, taco-seasoned chicken they can build a taco meal around Any kind of chili (dairy-free white chicken, vegetarian red, or red with chicken) Chicken noodle soup or any other chunky soup. They do like Thai and chicken tortilla soup, if they're not spicy, but they don't like pureed soup. They do like beans in soup. Meatless pasta sauce, for Friday meals. Grocery staples that are helpful on a weekly basis: Bagels, gallon of 2% milk, whole milk yogurt, sparkling water, all fruit, particularly bananas and apples, cheese, juice boxes, Sara Lee Honey Wheat bread, butter, baby wipes, size 6-7 diapers, chicken breasts.
