Story
Story from Jamie’s Facebook post/update: Today is my 7 year cancerversary ! I will celebrate that ! I will also celebrate the milestones for this new cancer journey I’ve begun. Yep , you read that right. For the last few weeks I’ve been down all the familiar roads. Bloodwork , Ct / pet scan , biopsies and more dr appts than I can even count. God is still the same God today that he was the first time. The victory is mine I just have to get to the finish line. The first scare was ovarian cysts showing a cancer marker. A trip to a gynoc came and went warranting a total hysterectomy which will happen next Wednesday. Thankfully ct scan confirmed it was NOT cancer however , the type of breast cancer I had puts me at a higher risk for it , sooooo it’s ALL gotta go. 6 days after this appt and surgery was scheduled I get a spot removed from my right calf. Invasive melanoma was the verdict with lymphatic involvement. Surgery to remove a sizable section of my right calf is on the very next wed the 28th so I will be healing from both surgeries at the same time. Whew 🥹 The leg wound cannot be closed bc of its location so I’ll also need skin grafts. Nuclear dye will show the lymphatic paths and any nodes will be removed. Melanoma in your lymph system is NOT something good. My oncologist is hopeful I will not need treatment but I’ll do it if needed. My pathology will decide after surgery. While I know how strong I am , this is bigger than me. It always is. I am content with my situation knowing that this was always part of my story. My world has been upended but I know this earth is also not my home. I’m just passing through and getting to be a part of some pretty amazing things and enjoying some pretty amazing people along the way. Pray for my family if you will. It’s not just me this affects ❤️
